More than two weeks after the tragic deaths of esteemed filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community are still paying respects to the pair.
Sharing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, explained he just recently felt ready to express about his personal sorrow.
"Adequate time has passed that I can now put my grief into words," wrote Elwes, saying that his first meeting with Reiner created an instant bond. "As we began passing more hours together I realized this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor posted behind-the-scenes footage from the film, commenting that he cannot recall "any day without mirth".
"The movie is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Values that Rob valued immensely. Which is among the many reasons he was the best person to guide it," Elwes wrote.
He additionally honored Michele Reiner, saying: "Claiming that they were a formidable pair would be an understatement. My heart still pangs every time I recall you." He ended with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
In a separate piece, legendary director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the main character.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked seamlessly with everyone, and he understood the human predicament of his character," Scorsese noted.
This week, a Los Angeles superior court judge ruled to prevent the publication of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, at the request from the LAPD.
A judicial mandate issued a security hold on the investigation to prohibit the public release of "related notes, notes, reports or photos" connected to the probe.
The Medical Examiner's office had earlier stated their deaths were the outcome of foul play, with a public database citing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
After the deaths, public figures offered varying reactions.
Former President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, providing provocative remarks that were widely condemned by numerous commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his criticism to the those speaking out last week. Speaking on his podcast, Rogan labeled the comments as "shocking" and implied they showed a concerning deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan ended by proposing that an associate should have stepped in when the choice to weigh in on the passing was made.
