The Miami Heat put up 86 first-half points versus the Grizzlies
The Heat secured a overwhelming 146-114 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies in their initial basketball game since guard Rozier was detained over suspected illegal sports betting.
Portland Trail Blazers head coach Billups was also arrested in connection with a broad federal probe into illegal gambling. The two individuals contest the claims.
But, the Heat were not distracted as they recorded eighty-six first-half points to be ahead of Memphis by thirty-nine after two quarters, the largest halftime lead in the team's 37-year existence.
Bam Adebayo led the way with 24 points and later said Rozier had the team's full backing.
"We support him. Full support," Bam said. "We are with him all the way. That's our brother ultimately."
Heat coach Spoelstra added: "Terry is a person who is important to everyone. He has made a beneficial influence on our team.
"We send our thoughts and support for him as he faces the situation."
The Trail Blazers additionally secured their first game since the arrests, with Brazilian Splitter taking over as interim coach in Billups' non-attendance and leading the squad to a decisive 139 to 119 win over the Warriors.
"We all had great experiences with Chauncey and his coaching style," Splitter said. "We're thinking of him and his loved ones but our focus is on the game."
Speaking about the arrests for the first time, league head Silver stated he was "very upset" by the incidents of the recent days.
"There's nothing more important to the league and supporters than the fairness of the game," he told Amazon Prime. "And so I had a pit in my stomach. It was disturbing."
The commissioner further said an league probe into Rozier's actions in spring 2023, when there was "aberrational betting" in a match he participated for the Charlotte Hornets versus the New Orleans Pelicans, found nothing untoward.
"We were informed by the authorities and the gambling firms," he added.
"We investigated the matter and were very transparent regarding it. And while there was the unusual wagering, we, honestly, couldn't find anything.
"The federal government has legal authority... [it] can impose penalties, can do all kinds of things that the league office can't do.
"So, we've been working with them since then. And, of course, what they announced yesterday was an charge.
"And two and a half years after, he still hasn't been convicted of anything, in justice to Terry.
"Obviously, it appears unfavorable, but he's been put on administrative leave, and so it is a compromise in this case between protecting people's rights and investigating."
