Formal charges have been brought against two men in connection with a suitcase robbery where a believed to be pepper spray led to people being hurt at the UK's busiest airport.

Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, now face two robbery charges and charges for deploying a toxic agent, according to official statements.

These accusations come after an investigation into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on the weekend. Before the assault occurred, two women were robbed of their suitcases taken after exiting a parking garage elevator, police said.

A young child was caught up in the incident during the incident. A total of five individuals required hospital care and were eventually allowed to go home.

The incident – which authorities stated was a standalone event and not considered a terror-related act – led to disruptions to rail services and the temporary blocking of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking area for a short time.
